Community Involvement

March 2016 – Joanie’s Swimming Safari Swim School

The Northeast Florida Chapter contributed $1,000 in grant funding to support swim lessons with Joanie’s Swimming Safari Swim School. This amount was matched by the Swimming Pool Education and Safety Foundation (SPESF). The National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSF) also granted $250 making the total designated $2,250. This will provide swimming lessons for 10 Autistic children over the course of 5 months.

May 14, 2016 – Water Safety Day at the Zoo

The chapter partnered with Safe Kids in Jacksonville to participate in Water Safety Day at the Jacksonville Zoo.  FSPA-NE will had a table with safety drains, water safety brochures, coloring books, tattoos, splash the penguins and games at the table. It was manned by 80 volunteers from the chapter and members of the BOD.  They also donated a $50 gift card for raffle prize drawing. There were 960 families in attendance.

The match and grant programmed combined with the city’s discounted rates has allowed the chapter to raise enough money over the past few months to provide 362 swimming lessons for children in the area!
