If you meet the criteria, the first step toward licensure is taking and passing the pool exam.
The exam is comprised of two parts – business and finance and trade knowledge. Both parts must be passed for an overall passing score.
All parts of the pool exam are now offered in Computer Based Testing (CBT) Format.

Once you have passed all parts of the exam you have four years in which to apply for your license. Thereafter you will have to retake the exam.

Scheduling a Computer Based Examination:
Computer-based examinations are offered daily through Pearson VUE. You will be required to submit a valid email address, telephone number and pay at the time the exam is scheduled, either through the Pearson VUE web site or by calling the toll free line. You will not be able to pay on the date of the exam. If you do not have a credit card, Pearson VUE has a “voucher” system of payment; more details will be provided when they become available. For further information, contact Pearson VUE directly at: www.pearsonvue.com or by calling 888.204.6230. Once the appropriate Board Office (DBPR) has approved your eligibility to take an examination, your file is sent electronically to Pearson VUE. Within 72 hours of receipt of the electronic file, Pearson VUE will email, if a valid email address is available, or mail an authorization letter. You do not have to wait for the letter to schedule your examination. The letter confirms the examination for which you have been approved by the Board Office, your identification number, and the telephone number to call for scheduling an examination. Two (2) forms of signature identification, one of which bears your picture, address that must match the name as provided to the Department of Business and Professional Regulation on the application for licensure, signature and is government issued: driver’s license, state identification card, passport or military identification card. YOU MUST BE PREPARED TO SHOW PROPER I.D. TO GAIN ADMISSION TO THE TEST SITE. Student, employment I.D. cards and photo bearing credit cards are not acceptable as a picture bearing identification. If the name on one or both forms of identification does not match the name listed in the vendor registration system, you must present an official document detailing why your name was changed. Examples of permissible documents accepted at the test center for this purpose include divorce papers, marriage licenses, and/or permanent resident certificates. Please VERIFY that your name and personal information are CORRECT as listed in DBPR and the vendor’s systems as well as the Confirmation letter. Any discrepancies must be reported to DBPR Customer Contact Center at 850-487-1395 for corrective action. If you want to take the license examination in Spanish, if available, you must make your language preference known at the time your examination reservation is made with the Computer Testing vendor Pearson VUE. If you do not request examination in Spanish at the time you schedule your examination, the examination will be in English. Testing sites:
There are 22 test sites throughout the state. On-site scoring means that test results are provided immediately after the examination. Examination reviews are available at the same location that the test was originally administered.
